Abstract

Pneumothorax and subcutaneous emphysema are life-threatening conditions if not treated properly. Urgent and appropriate treatment is necessary and also underlying cause must be revealed. Rarely, foreign body aspiration may cause this condition. Although it can be occurred in children under 3 years old, our patient was 9 years old and his neurodevelopment was appropriate for his chronological age. We mention the possibility of foreign body aspiration in children who have intractable lung infections and complications like pneumothorax and subcutaneous emphysema in any age group not only toddlers.
