note = "Funding Information: Riluzole (Sanofi-Aventis, Bridgewater, New Jersey) is a sodium channel blocker that has long been used for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Animal studies have shown it to have significant behavioral and neuroprotective effects and have encouraged the initiation of a multicenter prospective randomized clinical trial involving patients with ASIA grade-A, B, or C cervical and thoracic injuries. This study, sponsored by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, is currently ongoing and is expected to enroll thirty-six patients by August 2012 (NCT00876889). ",
