Abstract

PennScience: Journal of Undergraduate Research was created by students at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. The journal's mission is to establish a scientific forum for undergraduate students to publish and promote their research in science and engineering. First the paper discusses the content of PennScience and the evolution of a successful team-based model for running such a journal. Second the paper focuses on the personal experiences of student authors and staff members. The idea of an undergraduate research journal, which was pioneered by students at the University of Pennsylvania, has become an initiative that the University is embarking on to further enhance the undergraduate research experience.
