Abstract

Silaallyl - and silapentadienyl - iridium - phosphine complexes have been synthesized via the reaction of "(Me)Ir-(PMe 3) 3" with vinyl- and butadienyldimethylsilanes. Upon heating, these complexes lose methane and undergo a variety of reactions, including C - H bond activation to produce a five-membered iridasilacycle, C=C bond coordination to generate an η I2-silapentadienyl ligand, and decomposition.
