Abstract

1,2,4-Oxadiazoles undergo ANRORC (addition of nucleophile, ring-opening and ring-closure) rearrangements upon reaction with excess of n-butyllithium to give benzoxazines, benzothiazines, and quinazolines in good yields under mild conditions.
