Abstract
The classic management of the nerve gap is reviewed. Utilization of a conduit to bridge a short nerve gap and the distal neuratization procedure to recover critical nerve function are discussed. The experimental concepts of the use of nerve allograft and nerve expansion for extensive nerve injury are introduced.
