Abstract
The resistance of hardened structures to airblast loads may be described as impulse or overpressure hardness. The validity of each is discussed in the paper and calculations of the properties of generic hardened structures are presented. The uppermost portions of these structures are particularly vulnerable, but may be protected by a crushable overburden.
