Abstract

The application of flocculation in removing bacterium and solid impurity from bacterial broth is discussed. The results show that combination of ZnSO4, K4Fe (CN)6 and cationic polyacrylamide gives the ideal performance. Under the condition of flocculation carrying out with optimum doses of ZnSO4 and K4Fe (CN)6, temperature (50 to approximately 60 °C) and pH = 4, while using CaCl2 and diatomaceous earth for enhancing the separation. It is found that 100% bacterium and 80% protein are removed.
