Abstract

The inhomogeneous flow behavior of metallic glasses is reviewed. Structural changes associated with serrated flow and related models for yielding are highlighted. A broad range of experimental results, analytical models, and computer simulations indicate that metallic glasses exhibit asymmetry in tension and compression, consistent with the Mohr-Coulomb model for yielding.
