Spectroscopy of [Formula Presented] and [Formula Presented] via evaporation residue detection

Abstract

New spectroscopic information for the proton-rich nuclei [Formula Presented] and [Formula Presented] has been obtained from an experiment using the [Formula Presented] reaction at two different beam energies near the Coulomb barrier. The evaporation residue nuclei from this very fissile system have been selected with the detector system HERCULES and residue gated [Formula Presented] rays have been measured with GAMMASPHERE. The electric quadrupole [Formula Presented] character of several transitions in [Formula Presented] has been established.
