Some Rules for Effective and Ineffective Teaching: Generating Lists as an Educational Exercise

Two contrasting sets of 10 rules that describe important considerations for effective and ineffective teaching are outlined in this article. The rules serve as convenient summaries of the many factors that teachers must consider when they assume the educator role. The rules also underscore the assumptions that often silently guide effective teaching. The process of generating such lists may be a useful educational exercise.
