Abstract

In summary, Raife et al. present quite provocative data. The potential use of a hirudin analogue to reverse the pathophysiologic cascade leading to HUS raises interesting questions. However, the best way to prevent HUS remains the prevention of primary human infection with E. coli O157:H7 and other STEC.
