Abstract

Anorectal sexually transmitted infections (STI) are often asymptomatic and require a high level of suspicion to make the diagnosis. When present, symptoms are commonly similar to other anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids or proctitis, and thus a high level of suspicion is required of the colorectal surgeons. This chapter will review the most common STIs seen by colorectal surgeons with recommendations for evaluation and management.
