Routine air-contrast esophagography during upper gastrointestinal examinations

Abstract

The authors studied the image quality of 200 successive double-contrast examinations of the esophagus. On a single 2-on-1 spot radiograph, the gastroesophageal junction was imaged adequately in 50% of the patients; the lower thoracic esophagus was imaged successfully in 75%.
