Abstract
Although the transperitoneal approach has been standard for elective repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms, there has been a resurgence of interest in the retroperitoneal approach. The apparent benefits of the retroperitoneal approach in our early experience encouraged us to attempt repair in high-risk patients who otherwise would not have been surgical candidates. Our experience comparing the transperitoneal and retroperitoneal approaches is described.
