Abstract

The foot and ankle is the most frequently injured body region in high school and collegiate basketball players, and it is the most commonly injured region in professional basketball players during game play. Lateral ankle sprains are the most common diagnosis; however, syndesmotic sprain, foot fracture (Jones fracture), and Achilles tendon rupture are all particularly problematic injuries in basketball players. This chapter outlines general rehabilitation guidelines along with specific rehabilitation considerations for these commonly seen foot and ankle conditions.
