Abstract

Raman spectra of the two crystalline phases of carbon suboxide were recorded in an attempt to identify overtones of v₂ and v₇. The results are discussed with regard to the v₂ and v₇ potentials in condensed phases, and a recently proposed structure of the high temperature crystal form of C₃O₂ is considered in view of the observed spectra.
