Abstract
The U(1) Q-ball is studied analytically and numerically. It is found that for a reasonable form of the potential there are two branches of solutions at large charge, one giving the stable Q-balls and the other giving an unstable family of configurations (Q-clouds) that approach the plane wave at infinite charge.
