Abstract

Coronary artery obstruction is an uncommon but serious complication of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) associated with high mortality. In this chapter, we describe the incidence, mechanisms, clinical presentation, and risk factors for coronary obstruction with TAVR as well as ways to prevent and treat this complication. We also describe the BASILICA procedure, which continues to evolve and has shown success in decreasing the incidence of coronary obstruction with TAVR in high-risk patients.
