Planning, Pilot-Testing, and Refining the Intervention

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter discusses how an intervention is implemented in the real-world setting, and the monitoring and oversight necessary to ensure the intervention is implemented as planned and adjusted if and when applicable. A pilot test of the intervention is critical to identify any modifications that may be required and also assess its feasibility in the real-world context. This discussion also includes an examination of practical challenges pertaining to fidelity testing, data integrity, and safety. Various tools can be utilized to ensure that the intervention is delivered the way it was intended and to identify if there are any barriers to recruitment and participation, as well as unintended consequences.
