Abstract
The first example of an anionic phosphapentadienide reagent, lithium phosphapentadienide, has been isolated and spectroscopically characterized. Reaction of this species with (Cl)Ir(PEt3)3 yielded the phosphido-bridged iridium dimer (μ-η1-phosphapentadienyl)2Ir2(PEt3)4 as trans and cis isomers (1a and 1b, respectively). An X-ray crystal structure of 1a has been obtained.
