Abstract

The combustion of a liquid fuel droplet in an oxidizing environment to produce condensed-phase product was analyzed by activation energy asymptotics. The analysis yielded a solution for the adiabatic flame temperature, flame standoff distance, fuel consumption rate, and the flame extinction turning point behavior. Combustion of an Mg/CO2 system was adopted for the sample calculations. Comparison between this study and the conventional droplet combustion analysis was also performed and similarities and differences detailed.
