N2 - The presence of oliguria should alert the clinician to undertake a diligent search for any correctable underlying causes. The mainstay of treatment is to ensure adequate renal perfusion through optimization of cardiac output and volume status. The use of diuretics and vasoactive agents, although common, is not supported by the evidence; emerging data suggest that they may cause harm.
