Abstract

The knee is the most common site of osteoarthritis. With an aging population, the prevalence of this progressive disease is increasing. The management of symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee can be challenging. Although joint arthroplasty generally is effective after unsuccessful nonsurgical management, several other treatment modalities can be successfully implemented before joint arthroplasty is considered.
