Abstract
The requirements for building flagellar axonemes and centrioles are beginning to be uncovered. The carboxyl terminus of a specific β tubulin isoform plays an important role in forming the '9 + 2' structure of the axoneme; δ tubulin plays an essential role in forming the triplet microtubules of centrioles and basal bodies.
