Abstract

During the past two decades, the increasing popularity of minimally invasive techniques has had a dramatic impact on the surgical treatment of cardiac disease. Advances in endoscopic imaging and surgical instrumentation have enabled cardiac surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions. This chapter will summarize the current guidelines for surgical management of tricuspid valve disease and demonstrate our minimally invasive atrial fibrillation ablation (Cox-Maze IV procedure) technique for both stand-alone atrial fibrillation ablation and for patients undergoing concomitant tricuspid valve and/or mitral valve surgery. We will also discuss surgical results.
