Abstract

The isotope composition of Xe produced by cosmic rays in iron meteorites is compared with that of Xe in targets bombarded by high-energy protons in an accelerator. The Xe in iron meteorites is produced by W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au, so to simulate the formation of Xe, Re and W were used, as well as Ta for the main targets. Tl and Er targets were used to establish how far the yields of spallogenic Xe isotopes vary with Z.-C.N.
