Abstract

In this paper, the lineshape functions for spectrum-fitting in vibrational spectroscopic study have been discussed. The formulas of three kinds of lineshape functions (such as Lorentz, Gauss and some kinds of their mixtures) have been derived. By means of experimental tests and fitting calculations, the applicability of these formulas has been verified for monochannel and multichannel Raman spectrometer, dispersive and FT-IR spectrometer. The possible error sources in practice have also been discussed.
