Abstract
The lifetimes for single and blended rotational levels of the d 1Σ+ state of NH and ND have been measured from emission spectra of NH and ND obtained via dissociative electron-molecule excitation. Using phase shift measurements over a range of electron-beam modulation frequencies, a Q-branch lifetime for v′ =0 of 46±5 ns for NH and 62±6 ns for ND is derived. The difference in lifetimes provides some support for a predissociation in this state.
