Abstract

Indications for lateral orbitotomy include lateral wall decompression in thyroid eye disease and exploration, biopsy, or removal of lateral orbital lesions in the extraconal or intraconal space or lacrimal gland fossa. Access to the lateral orbit most commonly involves a lateral upper eyelid crease or lateral canthal incision. In this chapter, the authors describe lateral orbitotomy surgical technique.
