Abstract
Minimally invasive parastomal hernia repair has become a successful alternative to conventional open techniques, proving to be safe and effective. The laparoscopic approach permits full visualization of the abdominal cavity, as well as the hernia defect, minimizes surgical trauma, and affords the potential benefits of improved cosmesis, reduced pain, and a shorter recovery time. In this chapter we will review the technical aspects of a laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair including the use of mesh with a minimally invasive approach and make the reader aware of potential pitfalls associated with this technique.
