Abstract
Appendicitis epiploicae is an inflammatory condition often confused with acute vermiform appendicitis and rarely diagnosed preoperatively. It is extremely rare in the pediatric population. We report a case of a 9-year-old boy with abdominal pain who was found to have appendicitis epiploicae, which was diagnosed and treated with laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is a valuable tool for both diagnosis and treatment of this uncommon entity.
