    Abstract

    This article considers the state of the literature on courts and the judicial process. It highlights the emerging literature on judicial independence and accountability, and aims to identify important research questions. Judicial decision-making, the legitimacy of judicial institutions, and judicial independence versus democratic accountability are also covered in this article.
