Abstract

The ion-radical reaction between cations and reactive species was discussed through chen nozzle pyrolysis. The study was carried out by using FT-ICR which consist of a 1.2- tesla Varien magnet, a 4.76-cm cell and a Nicolet 2000 data system. It was found that the favored product to be an ion m/z 118, presumably formed by loss of an hydrogen radical from the initially formed m/z 119 ions. It was also observed that hydrogen radical that is lost from the initially formed complex originates from the allyl chain and not the benzene ring.
