    Abstract

    This chapter provides a general introduction and framing for the book, Social Work Practice with Fathers: Engagement, Assessment, and Intervention, including the positionality of the editors as well as key definitions for terms including parenting, fathering, and co-parenting. The argument for the focus of the book, as well as its organization, is described. This chapter also describes the connection between father engagement and social work ethics, competencies, and training. Finally, this chapter includes guidance for instructors who plan to use this text in social work courses.
