Abstract
The authors report a case of endocarditis on a permanent endocavitary pacing catheter which presented a number of unusual features compared with other reported cases: a mobile vegetation was observed on the pacing wire without tricuspid valve disease: transoesophageal echocardiography confirmed the diagnosis and provided accurate information on the size and site of the vegetation, showing its superiority over transthoracic echocardiography in the diagnosis of right heart endocarditis.
