Abstract
Purpose of Review: The purpose of this review is to summarize the current literature regarding procedures offered to adult professional and performance voice users in the office setting. This review expounds on the special factors which need to be considered for those who use their voices at a high level for their occupations. Recent Findings: Office-based procedures are increasingly prevalent. Steroid injections are increasingly studied for use in lesions of the vocal folds, with generally positive results in both professional voice users and laypersons. 445-nm laser use has become more prevalent and is undergoing further study. Summary: While there are an increasing number of office-based procedures that can be offered for performers, utilization of these techniques should be considered carefully and must weigh the risks and benefits of procedural intervention. Generally, these procedures are safe and effective in a well-selected, well-counseled subset of professional voice users.
