Abstract

We introduce a novel imaging technique that combines the best features of ultrasound and near infrared diffusive light imaging in breast cancer detection. The combined technique has been tested in phantoms and preliminary results have shown that it is feasible to implement both acoustic and optical sensors on the same transducer probe and obtain both acoustic and optical parameters of the same target.
