N1 - Funding Information: As the technology of IGRT disseminates into the community, increasing numbers of facilities will be expected to participate in IGRT trials. Similarly, the trials using IGRT will probably grow and, eventually, the standard of RT will no longer be practiced as it is today. This technology penetration will likely contribute to an improved accrual rate to RTOG IGRT studies. The 3D QA Center has been collecting voluminous data on all patients entered in the current IGRT trials. This group has been awarded funding from the National Institutes of Health for advanced technology RT studies. We plan to continue to use their services for QA review and to collect dose-volume data on all studies for which IGRT is a central focus of the study protocol. As more clinical trials are written that include or accommodate IGRT, the 3D QA Center, the Medical Physics Committee, and IGRT Committee will work together to provide insight and technical guidance for trials in which IGRT is not an essential study parameter, and no formal 3D QA review or data collection will be required. Despite a lack of formal review of all patients in studies such as this, we will expect proof of 3D Radiotherapy Treatment Planning System (RTP) and the delivery capabilities of institutions participating in trials of this nature. We will use benchmarks or dry run cases to demonstrate the capabilities of IGRT.
