N1 - Funding Information: The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) is the leading professional society for a diverse group of health care professionals involved in basic, clinical, and translational research; patient care; and public policy for heart failure. The HFSA actively promotes and facilitates education and training through the development of comprehensive patient care guidelines, patient education materials, and public awareness. Through the development of position papers and participation in collaborative working groups, the HFSA serves as a resource for government, providers, and industry on issues of mutual interest, including the design and conduct of clinical trials. A major focus of the HFSA is the support of young physicians pursuing careers in academic medicine with a specialization in heart failure through a fellowship program. Several symposia enable new investigators to present the results of ongoing research in clinical/integrative physiology and in basic science. Additionally, the Journal of Cardiac Failure, the official peer-reviewed scientific journal of the HFSA, provides a well-recognized forum for scientific communication. Funding Information: Dr. O'Connor has received research funding from NHLBI, Merck, Medtronic, Johnson and Johnson and Bioheart. Dr. Mann has received research funding from the NIH and serves as a consultant for Acorn Cardiovascular, ARMGO Pharma, Cardiokine, Circulate, Medtronic, Miragen, Mile Pharmaceuticals and Novartis.
