Abstract

The liver plays a major role in PTH metabolism and is the major site of PTH deposition. The physiological significance remains unclear at the present time. Further studies are required to define possible effects of PTH on hepatocytes and Kupffer cells respectively, to define the relationship of the proteolysis of PTH to biological effects, and to define the consequences of the interactions of PTH with these cells on mineral homeostasis.
