Abstract

Hair tourniquet syndrome (HTS) is a relatively rare condition that occurs normally in the distal appendages of the pediatric population. Rarely are they located in other areas of the body. Here we describe the especially rare occurrence of HTS around the labia minora in a 6 year old child. Treatment involves application of EMLA cream and excision of the tourniquet. Review of the literature reveals only 8 prior recorded cases of labia minora HTS.
