    Abstract

Taking into account the film Drylongso (1998), by Cauleen Smith, and various theoretical postulates on necropolitics, or on the work of art in an era of femicides, hate crimes, massacres, this chapter discusses literary works that openly seek to document reality, such as Cristina Rivera Garza’s El invencible verano de Liliana, or Julián Herbert’s La casa del dolor ajeno. Central to the critic’s argument is the discussion of the first four volumes of the series Critical Mexican Studies, at Vanderbilt University Press, dedicated to the study of necropolitics, and to the production of literature and culture in times of political instability.
