Abstract

Fuzzy logic based control system is developed for glideslope capture of an aircraft under gust. First, the design of a longitudinal control system for automatic landing is presented for a linear aircraft model. Then, the fuzzy controller parameters derived for the linear model are modified to obtain a robust control system for a six degree of freedom nonlinear aircraft model. It is shown that the simple tuning fuzzy controller, by altering scaling factors, is well suited for control of difficult aircraft maneuvers like landing in severe weather conditions which require continuous change in engine thrust and control surfaces.
