Abstract

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by reversible airway obstruction, airway hyperresponsiveness, and airway inflammation. It is an extremely heterogeneous disorder, and a multitude of factors - genetic (e.g., atopy), environmental, psychosocial, and biological - contribute to the disease process.
