title = "Future health implications",
abstract = "Many factors contribute to the long-term outcomes for children adopted internationally. For families considering growing their families via adoption, they must consider the physical and mental health outcomes. While most do, some children adopted internationally do not transition successfully to adulthood (i.e. living independently). Early studies show both physical and psychological reasons for this. Families should prepare emotionally and financially as they prepare for international adoption. As those who were adopted internationally approach adulthood, they will need ongoing support as they seek answers to their unique questions and explore feelings regarding their placement.",
