Abstract

Incorporating rough wall capabilities into computational simulations is a practical need. This paper introduces a new surface-roughness modification for the recently developed Wray-Agarwal eddy viscosity turbulence model. The new model is compared to the existing roughness corrections of the Spalart-Allmaras and Shear-Stress-Transport k-ω models. Computational results for a rough flat plate and rough S809 airfoil are presented. It is shown that the modified Wray-Agarwal model is in better agreement with experimental data then the modified Spalart-Allmaras and modified SST k-ω models.
