Abstract
The authors have recently described a model of nerve compression employing relatively long regions of compression and evaluating histologic and electrophysiologic changes for a period up to 1 year. Using this model in both the adult rat sciatic nerve and the monkey median nerve, the authors have noted a sequence of histopathologic changes that appear consistent with the histopathology that has been observed in the few specimens of human chronic peripheral nerve compression that are available for study.
