N2 - Pediatric traumatic brain injury accounts for approximately 474,000 emergency department visits, 37,000 hospitalizations, and 3,000 deaths in children 14 years and younger annually in the United States. Acute neurocritical care in children has advanced with specialized pediatric trauma centers and emergency medical services. This article reviews pediatric-specific diagnosis, management, and medical decision making related to the neurocritical care of severe traumatic brain injury.
