Abstract

A 3 day period of morphine pellet implantation produced a marked reduction in the wet and dry weights of the seminal vesicles and prostate glands of the rat. In the seminal vesicles, there was also a marked decrease in secretory activity. The apparent atrophic changes in these important accessory sex organs appear to be related to a pronounced morphine induced lowering of plasma testosterone levels.
